Updating my Momir Basic cube

So, I’ve shared about building a Momir Basic cube before here and here, maybe also here. It’s been a while, and I’ve decided to do some adjusting and I will tell you all about it.

To begin with there are some issues, starting with the >8MV bracket, since there just are not enough splashy creatures and especially at MV10 this is an issue big enough for my players to just stick to max MV9.

To try to solve this problem I got the idea to add creatures with X in their casting cost, which led me to adjusting the Momir card rules a bit because X in a creature’s casting cost just was not going to work here.

I added the rule “X in the casting cost of a creature is equal to the mana spent on Momir’s ability divided by the number of X-es in the casting cost minus its MV”. This might no be a very clean or official rule for Magic: The Gathering, I do think it gets the point across.

My second issue wasn’t really Momir Basic related at all. It was about unused cards that I wanted to give a home but did not fit in my regular decks. I’ve been collecting the Godzilla and Universes Beyonds cards for a while now. My Godzilla collection isn’t complete yet, but still. I love collecting cards, but ultimately these are game pieces and I really think it’s a waste to have them just sitting there looking pretty in a binder. So I decided to add them all to the Momir cube.

If you are curious, here is the updated cube list!
